An Inverview with Daniel Mraz
Hi Daniel
Firstly, welcome to Surfers Paradise Baseball Club.
How have you settled in? I heard you got a job as soon as you got
here, what have you been doing?
I’m pretty good. First couple days were not that good because I was so tired from the flight. But I knew that it will be ok in few days. Yeah I was working for two weeks like a painter, but after that they didn’t have enough work for me so since then I am just enjoying the beach and life here. But also looking for a job because life here is really expensive.
Tell us a bit about yourself? Where is home for you? When did you start playing? What is your favourite position? Who have you played for?
Well, I’m from Brno in Czech Republic. Its second biggest city in Czech. I playing baseball since my 8. My first experience was playing catch with my dad. My favourite position...I really like hitting so right now I’m enjoying play in outfield. But also like pitching. My home team is Technika Brno..the best team ever.
How is the standard back home and how have you found the standard of the Brisbane League?
Well the standard at home is similar like here. But different is that at home I know every single player very well so I know what I can expect from them.
You met Steve Chambers in your own country. Do you get many overseas players?
We usually have 3 foreign players. Because if you are playing European cups you can have only three. This year we had Steve, Matt Lawman from Melbourne and Roger Deago from Panama. He pitched in MLB for San Diego. Our biggest rival had three as well and 2 of them were playing in MLB too. So as you can see the standard of foreign players is really high.
Do you have a favourite MLB team and or player?
I don’t have any favourite team even player...I just really like watching a good baseball.
And finally, you are living with Ron and Vicki Chambers. How s that been?
It’s very nice, they are so kind to me that I don’t even know that I’m in different country.
