5th March 2010
The Dodgers were scheduled to play the Runaway Bay Sluggers on Friday night at Palm Meadows which was to be the last game of the season however the weather conditions forced the cancellation of the match. The dodgers had a great season with an awesome record of 14 wins from 15 games played. I know that at this age winning isn’t everything but the natural talent within the team saw them put the runs on the board each week. A lot of fun was had by the kids each week and special mention should go to the coaches Kentaro, Corey and Tyler for their patience. Also huge thanks to Kym Briese for his umpiring skills and Heather for scoring. Good luck to those who will be going up to Little League next year and we hope to see you all at the Presentation day on Sunday the 21st of March.

The Dodgers were down a little on in numbers with big hitters Doug and Takeru missing. But it made little difference. Big hitting from Dan with 2 triples and Greer with one triple leading the way. The whole team batted very well.
Fielding was great and we were able to keep the Coyotes batters quiet.
20th February 2010
Another great game from the whole team. Big hitting from Takeru, Dan, Matt, Mike, Doug and Jett. Special mention to Greer whop changed her batting style and bashed the ball around the park.
Once again an awesome fielding display form the whole team.
13th February 2010
The Dodgers travelled to Mudgeeraba this week to take on Mudgee Whites. After a slow start the bats came alight. To mix things up a little, the coaches put one of ours, Dan on the mound for Mudgee and he pitched very well.
The fielding was fantastic as we shut them out in 2 innings. Well done to all.
28th November 2009
The Dodgers played at home this week against the Coomera Panthers. The offence was on display again with the team scoring the maximum 6 runs each innings bar the first when 5 runs crossed the plate. The batting was consistently good by all players. Doubles to Jett, Mickey and Doug were some of the highlights however the team was led by Takeru who just missed out on hitting for the cycle with a single, double and a line drive home run. This week’s game is against Nerang played at Palm Meadows on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 5.30pm.

21st November 2009
The Dodgers travelled to Robina this week to take on the Braves on a very hot Saturday morning and once again pounded the baseball with the bat by amassing 20 runs or more for the 6th game in a row. The offence was led by Daniel who cracked a triple with Jett and Matthew each smashing doubles. There was great communication in the field with the skills improving greatly with the glove. The swap of training to Thursdays seems to working for the team as the base running was significantly better. Next Saturday’s game is at Surfers Paradise against the Coomera Panthers.

The Dodgers this week played the Alleygators and once again showed an awesome offensive display by amassing 20 runs or more for 5 games in a row and racking their 5th win for the season
The offence was complimented by some great defence with huge outfield throws by Takeru back to the plate. Dan did a great job behind the dish with a tag that stopped a potential home run. Dan also did a great job the previous game against Runaway Bay where he hit for the cycle. The girls also did well in that game with Greer smashing a triple and Maddison taking a tricky fly ball at third. The Dodgers are playing some great ball and having a lot fun however the base running needs a little work.

U/10 Dodgers
The Dodgers played under the lights of the Palm Meadows Baseball Complex on Friday night against the Runaway Bay Strikers. The Dodgers put up a magnificent bating display with a total of 25 runs scored and all players reached base safely and consequently scored a run for their team, a fantastic batting display. Extra base hits to Takeru and Doug were just a couple of the highlights. An awesome defensive effort in the field saw the Dodgers shut out the Strikers two innings in a row, 3 up 3 down! Three games into the season and the basic skills are improving, especially fielding and throwing. Special mention should go to Aki who did a great job behind the plate catching for 1 inning. The player of the match was a tough decision for the coaches but Doug Brises got the nod for a huge home run and plenty of RBI’s. |
