Little League Surfers Sharks 6th Feb 2010 Vs R/way Bay under 12’s It started with a ripping line drive to 1st base which was caught by Bernie, now a recognised specialist 1st base player who stamped her authority early in the game. Not only did she catch a lighting bolt she also touched base to seal the fait of the opposition batsman twice. Reily’s pitching did not go unnoticed with strikeouts in both innings. The Christmas break had little effect on overall skills as all players fielded with gusto to support the pitchers- with Rory, Fin and Sam giving the crowd of onlookers a display of powerful overhand throwing which often beat the fast running opposition to base. Fins power flat throw to Bernie from short stop to run the opposition out was a definite highlight judged only by the awe displayed by Scotty and Connar- (mouths open wide in absolute reverence- followed by a deafening display of cheers). U/12 Minors - 14th Nov - Home Game Over the last 2 weeks the sharks have faced stiff opposition coming a close second by 1 run against the R/way bay Rays and then bouncing back from behind in the last dig against the Nerang Maroon’s to be victorious. The team was led out in the 1st dig by Indiana who kept the opposition scoreless even though the first hitter for Nerang was perched on 3rd base applying the pressure. Successive strikes meant a quick innings and left the opposition spinning and the crowd yelling for more. As the game proceeded Nerang kept applying the screws but were checked by Big Ben who seamed to be a ball magnet in right out field. Police where called in the 3rd-4 innings to investigate the number of stolen bases by Emma & Rory. A shrewd tactic by Energizer father at 1045 am AKA Santa Clause was to JUICE the team with power aid. The results where instant with the batters Finba, Bernie, Rory, Indiana & Eephus punishing the Nerang pitchers to the point that many of the our team were subsequently walked as Nerang faulted in the heat. Atmosphere in the dugout was electric even though many of the team played half a game due the strong turnout of players wanting to be part of the action. Strong team spirit is what its all about- See you Tuesday- PS: the quality of the Umpiring was first rate – special thanks for all the parents who make Saturdays fun for all Cheers dave
U/12 Minors match report - SHARKS - Saturday 31st Oct Surfers Vs Nerang Our young champions inflicted yet another crushing win over our opponents. Big hits from Indiana, Sid, Eephus, Rory, Emma, Smiles & Energiser saw our team mates get over home plate with big ben and Fungo leading the charge. Our fielding was boosted by Reily catching the first fly ball of the year. Pitching by Indianna, Sid and Eephus saw plenty of strike outs and first base pick offs. Finda was solid behind base - getting a Falcon for his determination with out so much as a blink of an eye. Remember to run like the wind between bases, then wait for the umpires decision. See you all at training. |
